After Rodri's move to Barcelona for £65.4millions, it seems that Manchester City want to use that money to improve the team and strengthen it with quality signings.

Rodri has officially moved to Barcelona, and it seems that Man City wants some reinforcements for its team next season, taking advantage of the money that entered the club's coffers from selling some stars.

Manchester City want a real replacement for Rodri!

Manchester City appear to be seriously looking for a replacement to compensate for Rodri's departure to Barcelona, and it seems that the Manchester City midfielder is one of the candidates to take this role, along with the outstanding Moroccan Ayoubb Bouadii, 18 years old, a player for Lille.

Sources close to Football Insider have revealed that Manchester City scouts have been monitoring the player for several months and now apparently believe he is a good fit for Manchester City's style of play.

Since joining Crystal Palace in 2024, Wharton has been a standout performer, playing a key role in the Eagles' FA Cup and Conference League triumphs, and his displays have not gone unnoticed by some of the game's biggest clubs.

Does Manchester City want to sign Adam Wharton?

Mick Brown was consulted by Football Insider and it appears that Manchester City have started to seriously consider the player after Rodri's departure from the team.

Wharton's game has evolved considerably over that period, and he has grown into a pivotal figure in Crystal Palace's recent successes, with those displays now sparking fresh interest from elsewhere. "Man City are going to need to replace Rodri sooner rather than later," Brown told Football Insider.

"They haven't left themselves with a lot of time to do that, but they've been working to identify options for months now because there has been a feeling he might leave. One player who has been mentioned is Adam Wharton, he's a player Man City have liked for a while and he certainly ticks a lot of boxes in terms of that midfield position. He will be high on their list to replace Rodri, but it depends on what they're going to have to pay for him, because Palace obviously don't want to lose another key player. It might be a difficult deal for Man City to do in that case, but he's certainly somebody they admire, and his abilities would make him a good fit."
