Manchester City: Erling Haaland teases new signing Elliot Anderson
Clearly, Erling Haaland still hasn’t gotten over his run-in with Elliot Anderson during the 2026 World Cup.
While the England international has only just joined Manchester City, the Norwegian striker wasted no time firing his first shot at his new teammate on Instagram. After Haaland posted about his return to Manchester, a fan asked him to send his regards to Anderson.
“The diver?”, replied the Manchester City forward. That was a direct reference to the World Cup quarter-final between England and Norway. In that clash, a Norwegian goal was overturned by VAR after Erling Haaland was judged to have shoved Anderson in the box. The Norwegian had already publicly called the decision “soft.”
Now the situation is taking an intriguing turn, as the two men will have to line up side by side in the same shirt. For the record, Manchester City signed Anderson this summer for £116 million, making the 23-year-old English midfielder one of the Citizens’ marquee signings of the transfer window.

Haaland’s little dig quickly amused fans on social media, with some noting that the Norwegian “clearly hasn’t forgotten” their World Cup clash.
