Manchester City: Etihad Airways steps up pressure and threatens the Premier League
Manchester City's major partner since 2009 has spoken out after the Citizens were found guilty of breaches of the Premier League's financial rules. Etihad Airways has broken its silence.
In a statement, the Emirati airline rejected any involvement in irregular commercial agreements and regretted never having been approached during the proceedings. "The lack of clarity and transparency, combined with the selective disclosure of information, has had adverse repercussions for Etihad," an Etihad Airways spokesperson said.
The airline believes that the Premier League must "take responsibility" for the public presentation of the case and announced that it will consult legal experts about possible legal action in order to protect its interests. Etihad also reaffirmed its support for Manchester City, which disputes the commission's conclusions.
