Manchester City: financial charges, verdict known in July
Long before the news gained momentum, Manchester City knew the verdict in the case related to the financial charges.
Manchester City had known for several weeks that it had been found guilty of more than 100 breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules. Indeed, according to ESPN, the Citizens’ executives were informed of the independent panel’s conclusions as early as last July. This was before the verdict was made public on Friday, while the summer transfer window was still in full swing.

Manchester City then spent more than €520 million to sign seven players, including Enzo Fernandez for around €144 million and Elliot Anderson for €134 million. ESPN specified that the agreement for the English midfielder had been reached on July 2, before Manchester City learned of the verdict.
For now, the Sky Blues continue to contest the charges and intend to appeal.
