Manchester City: Gianluigi Donnarumma’s camp clarifies his future!
Enzo Raiola says Manchester City’s financial situation has no bearing on Gianluigi Donnarumma’s plans, after the goalkeeper was reassured directly by the club.
As uncertainty continues to surround Manchester City, Gianluigi Donnarumma does not appear to be considering any immediate upheaval. His agent, Enzo Raiola, spoke out to calm speculation surrounding the Italian goalkeeper’s future, as the Citizens continue to await the sporting consequences of their financial case.
Speaking to Radio Napoli Centrale, in comments relayed by Calciomercato.com, Raiola said that the atmosphere around his player remained calm. “Will the chaos at Manchester City change anything? No, nothing will change for us or for Gigio. News comes out periodically. The club has spoken with Gigio and everyone is calm.”
Donnarumma has received assurances from Manchester City
The former PSG goalkeeper’s agent also highlighted the discussions that had taken place with the Manchester-based club’s management. “There are now important matches against Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, and then sporting justice will take its course. But Gigio has received assurances from Manchester City,” he added.
These comments come a few days after the first questions surrounding a potential departure for Donnarumma, particularly in the event of severe sanctions against the English club.
City has appealed and is still awaiting sanctions
Manchester City was found guilty by an independent commission of serious breaches of the Premier League’s financial rules over a nine-season period. The club strongly disputes these findings and officially lodged an appeal on October 1.
At this stage, no definitive sporting sanction has yet been announced. The scenarios being discussed range from a fine to a possible points deduction, or even much more severe measures. The outcome of the proceedings therefore remains crucial to the club’s sporting future.
Donnarumma remains a key part of the project
On the pitch, the 27-year-old goalkeeper retains a central role in the team. This season, he has played in the first five Premier League matches, keeping two clean sheets and conceding five goals, as well as featuring in one Champions League match without conceding.
Manchester City, top of the league after five wins in five matches, must now travel to Liverpool before facing PSG in European competition. These two major fixtures will allow the squad to refocus on matters on the pitch while the legal case runs its course.
