Manchester City: new developments at Real Madrid for Rodri

During this summer transfer window, Real Madrid are pulling out all the stops. After bringing in Dumfries, Cucurella, Konaté, Bernardo Silva, and Espi, Los Blancos are now set to welcome Yan Diomandé as well as Rodri. However, the Spaniard's arrival is proving difficult to finalize.

Enzo Maresca, Manchester City's head coach, was very clear on this topic Saturday night during his press conference. "Rodri to Real Madrid is just speculation," the Italian tactician declared. Still, over the past few hours, Spanish media have made several revelations explaining why Rodri is not yet officially a Madrid player. This, despite an agreement already reached between the player and Real Madrid some time ago.

According to AS earlier this weekend, Real Madrid are focusing on finalizing the Yan Diomandé deal, which is complicated due to several reasons linked to his image rights and agent mandates. Cadena COPE reports that Real Madrid do not want to rush things, and the Madrid decision-makers remain very confident. They are waiting for Manchester City to secure a replacement for the Spaniard, who could well be Ayyoub Bouaddi.

Also, Rodri recently underwent back surgery and won't be able to return to training for several weeks. There's no rush to bring him to Madrid, as he wouldn't be able to train with his new teammates right away anyway.
