Manchester City: Rodri's period of absence revealed

A back surgery is scheduled for the best player of the 2026 World Cup in the coming days. Rodri has been dealing with discomfort for a long time that now requires an outpatient procedure.

According to Marca, the operation will be minor and shouldn't require a lengthy recovery. In fact, it’s not expected to prevent Rodri from joining pre-season training when he returns from his vacation in about three weeks.

This surgery had already been planned before the 2026 World Cup, as the Spanish midfielder wanted to finally get rid of his recurring pains. Moreover, the issue didn’t really bother him during the tournament and it has no impact on his transfer market status.

With just one year left on his contract at Manchester City, Rodri has yet to respond to the club’s offer of an extension, while Real Madrid is considering a move for him this summer.
