Manchester City: the club's relegation announced, English press unanimous
Officially found guilty of 114 financial breaches for days, Manchester City nevertheless continues to proclaim its innocence.
On Monday afternoon, the Daily Mail announced that sanctions are taking shape in this case against Manchester City. The tabloid explained that the Premier League is putting pressure on the authorities for the sanctions to be announced before the verdict in the Sky Blues' appeal (expected at the end of January). An exclusion from the English league as early as this season is therefore highly unlikely, as is relegation to League Two, the fourth tier.
City faces major risks
Manchester City would also face a colossal fine as well as a massive points deduction that would guarantee its relegation to the Championship at the end of the season. The English outlet added that “it is also possible that the sanction could include an additional points deduction that would effectively confine Manchester City to the Championship for at least one more season. The EFL would not be obliged to accept this sanction against one of its clubs, but it is likely that it would.”

In other words, the Sky Blues would remain stuck in the second tier for two seasons.
