PSG vs Barça: Luis Enrique has a plan to stop Lamine Yamal
Tomorrow evening, Paris Saint-Germain will take on FC Barcelona in a top-of-the-table clash on matchday three of the Champions League.
For FC Barcelona, one of the keys to the match will be managing Lamine Yamal (19, 11 appearances and 9 goals in all competitions this season). While Paris Saint-Germain will be without Nuno Mendes for this match, Luis Enrique will have to try to limit the influence of the Catalan winger.
Enrique reveals his plan
At a press conference on Monday, PSG coach Luis Enrique revealed his plan to neutralize the young star, Lamine Yamal. "The best way to defend against Lamine Yamal is to have the ball. That's our ideal, but it won't be like that because we know how difficult it is to play against Barça. We have to remain focused and attentive. We have to overcome this as a team," said the Spanish coach.
Asked to draw a comparison between Yamal and Lionel Messi, Enrique declined to do so: “Lamine is improving in every aspect of the game. Comparing him to Messi, the greatest player of all time, would benefit no one. Lamine is very intelligent, he wants to become the best version of himself, but it is better not to compare him to Messi.”
