Real Madrid: Mourinho has chosen his starter between Diomandé and Vinicius against Leipzig
At Real Madrid, competition for a starting place on the left side of the attack is now in full swing. Although he was rarely used by José Mourinho at the start of the season, Yan Diomandé has delivered one stunning performance after another on the left wing. This contrasts with Vinicius Jr’s poor run of form.
Vinicius Jr exploded in frustration during the match against Villarreal on matchday eight of La Liga. The Brazilian was handed a four-match suspension by the Spanish Football Federation. This situation benefited Yan Diomandé, who made his fourth La Liga start of the season, capping it with a dazzling performance (one goal and one assist).
Mourinho chooses Vinicius
Despite the Brazilian’s poor form, José Mourinho wants to keep Vinicius Jr in his starting XI whenever the opportunity arises. That will be the case next Wednesday against Leipzig in the Champions League. At a press conference, the “Special One” explained that he intends to keep the Brazilian in the starting lineup. “Vinicius will start on Wednesday. The decision has been made,” he declared, adding that the Madrid No. 7 “is in great shape” and working intensely.
Suspended in La Liga, Vinicius Jr will watch the Clasico from the stands and see Yan Diomandé make his debut on Sunday at Camp Nou.
