Manchester City: what's holding up Maresca's arrival?

Enzo Maresca is widely expected to become Pep Guardiola's successor at Manchester City, but the official announcement remains on hold.

According to The Guardian, the main stumbling block is Chelsea. The Italian coach is still under contract with the London club until 2029, despite leaving the first team earlier this year. The Blues are reportedly demanding compensation of around £10 million to allow his move to Manchester City. Negotiations between the two clubs are currently underway as they look to strike a deal.

A former assistant within the Citizens' staff, Maresca is seen internally as the perfect fit to continue Guardiola's project. However, until negotiations are finalized, Manchester City cannot officially announce his arrival in the dugout.
