On the lookout for smart deals amid financial constraints, Ajax Amsterdam is refining its targets for the upcoming transfer window. According to Dutch media, the Amsterdam club has made inquiries about Manuel Ugarte, who is currently struggling for playing time at Manchester United. A permanent transfer seems out of reach, but the possibility of a loan is now under consideration.

Signed in 2024 for a significant fee from Paris Saint-Germain, the Uruguayan midfielder has found it difficult to establish himself in the Premier League. The situation worsened under previous technical directions, and the player is reportedly open to a temporary move in order to regain match fitness and the trust of a manager—a top priority with international fixtures looming.

One major hurdle remains: the financial aspect. Ugarte’s salary is well above Ajax’s usual standards, which would require a substantial contribution from Manchester United. Under contract until 2029, the player also has other options, including Galatasaray, proving that his future could soon take a different direction.
