Manchester United: Kobbie Mainoo close to signing new deal

Kobbie Mainoo is now on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester United, according to Sky Sports News.

After previously considering an exit due to limited playing time, the young central midfielder’s situation has changed in recent weeks. Interim coach Michael Carrick confirmed ahead of the match against Leeds that talks are moving in the right direction:

It’s getting closer, we’re sure of it. We’re calm and optimistic. Time will tell how it ends.

Long frustrated by his role, the United academy product has seen his situation improve, reigniting negotiations for a contract extension.
