Manchester United: this player sent out on loan
Manchester United have officially loaned Jacob Devaney to Hibernian FC. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder will play in the Scottish Premiership on a season-long loan, which includes an option to buy.
A new chapter away from Old Trafford
Born in Barnsley and a youth international for Ireland thanks to his family roots, Jacob Devaney has yet to break into the Manchester United first team. However, the young midfielder has built up solid experience with the Red Devils’ youth squads, featuring in 87 matches, scoring three goals and providing nine assists. He notably won the Premier League U18 title in the 2023-2024 season.
Last season, Devaney had already left Manchester United on a temporary deal to join St Mirren for the second half of the campaign. That spell allowed him to discover professional football and play a part in keeping the club in the Scottish top flight.
Hibernian: a chance to take the next step
At Hibernian, the defensive midfielder is expected to gain more experience at the highest level of Scottish football. His versatility is a major asset—he can anchor the midfield, push higher up the pitch, or fill in at right-back when needed.
The loan includes a purchase option, though the fee has not been disclosed. This means Hibernian could secure Devaney on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
