Cheikhou Kouyaté is no longer an Amedspor player. The Turkish club has officially announced a mutual agreement to part ways with the 36-year-old defensive midfielder.

Having joined in September 2025 after a year-long sabbatical, the Dakar-born player’s adventure in Turkey was short-lived. He leaves after just 9 appearances (190 minutes played).

“We have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of our professional player Cheikhou Kouyaté. We thank him for his efforts and commitment to the club and wish him every success in the next stage of his career,” the club said in an official statement.

Amedspor currently leads the second division standings in Turkey with 43 points and is well on track for promotion to the top flight.

A former player for Anderlecht, West Ham, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest, Cheikhou Kouyaté has earned 92 caps for Senegal (scoring 4 goals), but hasn’t been called up since a friendly against Benin on March 26, 2024.
