After joining Torino from Toulouse last summer, Moroccan forwardMoroccan Zakaria Aboukhlal is attracting considerable French attention! appears to be on the verge of an early return to French football. The 25-year-old, whose playing time in Italy has been severely limited, is now reportedly close to signing for Ligue 1 side Nantes during the current winter transfer window.

According to journalist Nicolò Schira, the French club is working intensively to finalise a deal that would see Aboukhlal arrive on a six-month loan with an option to buy set at €6 million. The proposed contract structure is particularly notable, as Nantes is also considering offering the player a four-year agreement, potentially keeping him at the club until June 2030, should the move become permanent.

Aboukhlal’s stint at Torino has been challenging. Despite having a contract that runs until June 2029, his role has been largely peripheral. This season, the former Toulouse man has been reduced to a bit-part player, making just 11 appearances across all competitions for a total of only 245 minutes on the pitch. His estimated market value stands at €9 million, a figure that reflects his perceived potential more than his current status in Italy, where he earns an annual salary of €2.04 million.

This prospective move represents a crucial chance for Aboukhlal to reignite his club career through regular football, while Nantes aims to secure a talented forward who once shone in Ligue 1.
