The Kingdom of Morocco's making steady progress on its stadium projects with the Hassan II Stadium set to be completed in December 2027, 3 year ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco's laying the groundwork for historic football event as preparations for both the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations AFCONand the 2030 FIFA World Cup continue.

On Thursday 27 February , crucial meeting of the Moroccan Steering Committee for Stadium Projects was held in Rabat. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch included high ranking officials such as Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fettah, Minister of National Education and Sports Mohamed Saad Berrada and Minister Delegate for the Budget Fouzi Lekjaa.

While the committee reviewed the progress of the 9 stadiums set to host AFCON 2025 matches scheduled for completion between March and August 2025 it was the Hassan II Stadium in Benslimane that captured the most attention.

Designed to be one of the world’s most advanced stadiums, it's key part of Morocco’s joint hosting of the 2030 World Cup with Spain and Portugal. The stadium could even host the final if Casablanca's chosen over Madrid.

Commitment to Meeting FIFA Standards

The construction of the Hassan II Stadium remains on track with officials confirming that it'll be ready by December 2027. Built to meet FIFA’s highest specifications, this state of the art venue will symbolize Morocco’s commitment to global football excellence.

Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch highlighted the significance of these infrastructure developments: “The government, in line with the High Royal Directives, is fully mobilized to complete various sports infrastructure projects and ensure all necessary conditions for the successful hosting of AFCON 2025 and the 2030 World Cup.”

Morocco’s Position in Global Football

With this ambitious project, Morocco's strengthening its status as major football hub. The modernization of existing stadiums's progressing swiftly with all AFCON 2025 venues set for delivery next year. The completion of the Hassan II Stadium in 2027 will mark another milestone in Morocco’s bid to host world class tournaments.
