Motamed Gamal remains solid at the helm with Zamalek

There will be no coaching change at Zamalek next season. The Cairo club’s board has decided to maintain its trust in Motamed Gamal, who will continue as head coach of the first team.

Zamalek announced the decision in an official statement, following the departure of John Edward, who previously served as the club’s sporting director. “The club’s management has decided to keep Motamed Gamal at the head of the first football team. All necessary resources will be made available to him in order to continue the success achieved after his excellent season, which ended with a championship title.”

The White Knights clinched the Egyptian league title in 2025-2026 ahead of Pyramids, Al Ahly, and Ceramica Cleopatra. However, preparations are yet to begin for the new season, which kicks off on August 20.

According to information from FilGoal.com, John Edward tendered his resignation due to disagreements with the club’s management over sporting strategy for the upcoming season, particularly regarding the choice of head coach and several organizational aspects related to the team.

The Cairo giants must now quickly reorganize ahead of the new season, which will be highlighted by a return to the CAF Champions League.
