Motorsport: Real Madrid joins Formula 1
Real Madrid is set to make its debut in the premier class of motorsport. Here’s why.
This Wednesday, it was announced that Real Madrid has become a partner of the very first Formula 1 Grand Prix to be held in Madrid, scheduled for September 11 to 13 at the Madring circuit. The partnership makes perfect sense given the striking proximity between Los Blancos and the new track—both are based in Valdebebas, with just 200 meters separating the north entrance of Madring from the main entrance of the Real Madrid complex.
It’s worth noting that Real Madrid players got a taste of this proximity earlier in the week, during two days of F3 testing that brought quite a roar to their training sessions. The partnership will allow the circuit to use some of the club’s facilities over the Grand Prix weekend, expanding its operational capacity. The 120-hectare complex is home to both the men’s and women’s Real Madrid teams, the youth academy, the basketball squad, and the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium.
