Nations League: Denmark defeats Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal

In the first leg of the Nations League quarterfinals, Portugal was defeated by Denmark (1-0) and can thank Diogo Costa for preventing a heavier loss. Rasmus Hojlund, in great form, scored the only goal of the match.

The Danes dominated from the kick-off and earned a penalty in the 24th minute. However, Christian Eriksen, despite his confidence, saw his shot saved by Costa. Mika Biereth and Eriksen continued to apply pressure, while Portugal managed only one chance through Renato Veiga.

The Danish breakthrough came in the 78th minute. A well-constructed play allowed Hojlund to beat Costa with an unstoppable shot. Unable to respond, Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo will need to win the return leg to avoid relegation to League B.
