Negreira case: Real Madrid’s new statement
Once again, Real Madrid is determined to bring FC Barcelona down in the Negreira case. In recent hours, Los Blancos sent a 50,000-page dossier to UEFA, containing evidence and testimonies that the Merengues consider incriminating.
Involved in this case, Real Madrid issued a statement following the acknowledgment of receipt published by the European body. "UEFA has confirmed receipt of the complaint filed by Real Madrid and the continuation of the investigation into the payments made over the past two decades by FC Barcelona to José Maria Enriquez Negreira, who was vice-president of the Technical Committee of Referees. The complaint filed by our club includes extensive documentation and evidence concerning events of extraordinary seriousness, which directly affect the integrity of the competition and confidence in the refereeing system," reads the official website.
"Real Madrid believes that, now that UEFA has this documentation, it is essential that the investigation proceed as swiftly as possible until its full conclusion and that the competent bodies make the appropriate decisions in light of the seriousness of the established facts. Our club will continue to cooperate actively with UEFA and take all action within its power to clarify events that it considers incompatible with the principles of integrity, transparency and fair play that should govern European football," concluded the club chaired by Florentino Pérez.
