New Format , Tougher Relegation Battle

- A championship group of 7 team to decide the title winner.
- A relegation group of 14 team where 4 club will be relegated to the second tier. 3 team will be promoted to the Premier League in the following season.
Key Dates & Officiating Changes
The league will conclude by 25 May 2026 allowing enough time for clubs and the national team to prepare for the expanded fifa World cup.
Additionally all matches involving Al Ahly & Zamalek will be officiated by foreign referees following coordination with the EFA aimed at avoiding controversy like the 2nd round Cairo derby.
Al Ahly’s Dominance and Ismaily Gesture
Sweilam praised the successful season finale under current competitions chief Taha Ezzat confirming Al Ahly as champions with the trophy handed over on the pitch.
He also dismissed Pyramids celebrations after beating Ceramica Cleopatra saying:
"I don’t know why they were celebrating"
In surprise move, Al Ahly may return to play matches in Ismailia for the first time since 2010 with Ismaily reportedly planning formal invitation to honor Al Ahly’s 45th league title.
Sweilam revealed that this follows recent meeting with Minister of Youth & Sports Ashraf Sobhi citing improved fan relations between both clubs.
He concluded by noting Al Ahly’s push to cancel relegation this season to support Ismaily who narrowly avoided the drop after turbulent campaign.
