Newcastle United Monitor Moroccan Defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal

Newcastle United are reportedly keeping a close eye on Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal, who is currently developing his career with French club Rennes.

Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal's abilities are turning heads

The 20-year-old centre-back has attracted attention because of his performances and potential to become an important defender at the highest level. According to information reported by AfricaFoot, Newcastle are among the clubs monitoring his progress as they consider possible defensive reinforcements for the future.

Ait Boudlal's name was already attracting interest during the summer transfer window. Fulham reportedly made an offer worth around €30 million for the Moroccan defender, but Rennes decided not to accept the proposal. This indicates the importance the French club places on the young player.

The competition for his signature could become even stronger. Everton, Brentford and Hull City have also reportedly followed the defender, while clubs from Germany, Spain and Italy are said to have shown interest.

Ait Boudlal is contracted to Rennes until June 2028. His market value is currently estimated at approximately €20 million by Transfermarkt.

For Newcastle, continuing to monitor the defender could be part of a longer-term strategy. At this stage, however, there is no confirmed agreement between the English club and Rennes.
