Cape Town City registered their first win of the 2026/27 Motsepe Foundation Championship campaign with 2-1 victory over Hungry Lions at Athlone Stadium.

The Citizens currently sit seventh on the second-tier standings, having accumulated four points from the opening three matches of the season.

Elsewhere, Magesi FC consolidated their spot at the summit of the table with a 3-1 win over 10-man Leicesterford City, making it three victories in as many matches.

Highbury kept pace with the log leaders as they remain second and level on nine points with Magesi after edging Upington City 1-0 away from home.

On the other hand, Gomora United climbed to third with seven points, thanks to a 1-0 win away to The Bees FC, who are rooted at the bottom of the table with zero points.

Real Native secured a 1-0 victory at the expense of Midlands Wanderers, while newly promoted Hope FC beat fellow rookies North West University with the same scoreline.

Meanwhile, University of Pretoria overcame Venda FC 2-0, with newly appointed head coach Michael Loftman claiming his first win in charge of AmaTuks.

The clash between Orbit College and Lerumo Lions was postponed, leaving the two teams one game behind the rest of the pack in the division.
