Barcelona will be in Morocco in mid-August. In a statement published this Wednesday, July 29, the Catalan club's board announced it is finalizing arrangements for a friendly match in Tangier.

The fixture is set for August 15, 2026 at the Grand Stadium of Tangier against a local team whose identity has yet to be revealed.

Return to Morocco after 14 years

Barcelona is no stranger to the city of M'diq. On their first visit in 2012, the Spanish champions cruised to a resounding 8-0 victory over Raja Casablanca. Their second trip came in 2018, where they edged out Sevilla 2-1 in the Spanish Super Cup.

This time, the Catalans return as part of their preparations for the new season. As reigning Spanish champions, the club is looking to ramp up its preseason before the start of La Liga.

A stop in a busy preseason schedule

After a training camp in England, Hansi Flick's men will compete in a friendly tournament in Udine, Italy. They will then return to face Egyptian giants Al Ahly for the Joan Gamper Trophy, scheduled for August 19 at Camp Nou. So, Tangier is just one stop in a packed calendar. For Moroccan fans, this is a golden opportunity to see Barcelona's stars up close before the 2026-2027 season kicks off.
