OFFICIAL: Cape Town City appoint new coach

Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Cape Town City have announced the appointment of Andries Ulderink as the club's new head coach for the 2026/27 season.

The Dutch trainer takes over the reins from compatriot Jan Vredman, who left the club at the end of last season after missing out on promotion to the topflight.

City fell short in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs as they finished at the bottom of the mini-league, with Milford FC booking their place in the Betway Premiership.

The Cape club had secured their playoff spot by virtue of finishing as runners-up to eventual second-tier winners Kruger United last season.

Now, the Citizens are set to usher into a new era with Ulderink at the helm as they look to return to the elite league after their relegation in the 2024/25 campaign.

The UEFA A License holder was serving as the Director of Football at the club last season, having been roped in following a brief spell with Bayer Leverkusen.

He has also held roles at several European clubs, including Go Ahead Eagles, Reading, FC Twente, Royal Antwerp and Rangers, among other teams.

Whether he is the man to return Cape Town City to the lucrative Betway Premiership remains to be seen, with the second division proving to be rigorous.
