Having been a free agent since leaving Betis last June, Cédric Bakambu, who made 27 appearances and scored 4 goals in all competitions during the 2025-2026 season, will continue his career in the United States.

The Congolese international striker officially signed with San Diego FC this Thursday. He will be tied to the club until the end of the 2026 season. The Californian club also has options to extend Bakambu's contract for the 2027 MLS Sprint and then for the 2027-2028 season.

“San Diego FC has signed DR Congo men’s national team striker Cédric Bakambu to a contract through the 2026 season with club options for the 2027 MLS Sprint and 2027-28 seasons,” the club announced on its social media channels. The former Marseille player will thus experience a new league after stints in France, Turkey, China, Greece, the United Arab Emirates, and Spain.

He has built a remarkable career playing at the highest level in Europe and on the international stage, and his ability to score consistently has been a defining characteristic of his game. He knows what it takes to shine on the biggest stages and brings a competitive spirit that will be extremely valuable to our team. We are thrilled to welcome Cédric and his family to San Diego and look forward to seeing him make his mark with our club.” said Tyler Heaps, the club's sporting director.
