Former Kaizer Chiefs development coach Sundra Govinder has been appointed as the assistant coach at Motsepe Foundation Championship side THE BEES FC.

The former Marumo Gallants second in command will assist head coach Duncan Lechesa, who succeeds Joel Masutha in the dugout ahead of next season.

Masutha recently left the Mpumalanga-based outfit to take up an assistant coach role to Abraham Mongoya at the newly promoted Betway Premiership side Kruger United.

Notably, Govinder and Lechesa previously worked together as co-coaches at Black Leopards last season, prior to the club's relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.

The pair will be hoping to guide The Bees FC to promotion to the elite league, with the team having finished ninth with 37 points in their maiden campaign in the second-tier.

“THE BEES FC is pleased to announce the appointment of Duncan Lechesa as the club's head coach,” read the club statement.

"Coach Lechesa brings valuable experience, leadership, and a strong passion for football. He will be assisted by Sundra Govinder and Velile Zitha, who join the technical team as assistant coaches.

"We warmly welcome coach Lechesa, coach Govinder to THE BEES FC family and wish them every success as they lead the team into an exciting new chapter.

Having previously helped promote Polokwane City to the topflight, it remains to be seen how the experienced Lechesa will fare at his new home in the next term.
