OFFICIAL: Former Kaizer Chiefs defender lands new club aged 36

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko has signed for Lesotho Vodacom Premier League outfit Lifofane FC ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

The 36-year-old right-back joined on a free transfer from SAFA Free State ABC Motsepe League side Mangaung United, as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.

Moleko was part of the Mangaung team that partook in the recently concluded ABC Motsepe League National Playoffs at the uMthatha Stadium earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Lifofane finished as runners-up in the Lesotho topflight last season, five points behind champions Lijabatho, who accumulated 65 points in 30 outings.

The club is gunning for their first-ever league title as they have set sights on loftier ambitions of participating in the coveted CAF Champions League.

Notably, Moleko last played professional football in the 2022/23 season, where he sustained a broken leg while contracted to Maritzburg United (now Durban City).

The pinnacle of his career was at Chiefs, winning two league titles and the MTN8 under the guidance of Scottish mentor Stuart Baxter.

He also turned out for AmaZulu FC and the now-defunct Bloemfontein Celtic, where he came through the development ranks.

Whether Moleko will help Lifofane achieve their objectives of being crowned champions of Lesotho remains to be seen, with his experience deemed crucial.
