OFFICIAL: Former Kaizer Chiefs star lands new coaching role

Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League (PSL) outfit FC Platinum have announced the appointment of retired defender Onismor Bhasera as the club's new assistant coach.

The former Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United stalwart was unattached after parting ways with Betway Premiership side Siwelele FC at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

He was serving as assistant to Lehlohonolo Seema, who has since been shown the exit door at the Bloemfontein-based team earlier this month after a string of poor results.

Bhasera will now play second in command at FC Platinum under highly-rated South African tactician Thabo Senong, succeeding the outgoing Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

‘Yeye’, as the ex-Chiefs and Bafana midfielder is affectionately known, is set to take over as the new Mochudi Centre Chiefs head coach as Foot Africa previously reported.

This comes after the Botswana FNB Premiership club parted ways with 35-year-old Spanish mentor Miguel Corral Torreira on Monday.

Chiefs currently sit seventh on the log standings, having registered a solitary win, including as many draws and defeats in the opening three matches of the new season.

Letsholonyane, meanwhile, returns to a familiar territory, having guided Matebele FC to a 10th place finish last season, which earned him a Coach of the Season nomination.

The 44-year-old tactician will begin his tenure as the new Chiefs boss with a mammoth clash against 16-time Botswanan champions Township Rollers, who are in sixth place.
