Kaizer Chiefs appear to be considering new reinforcements for the team!
A couple of adjustments in the back line are expected from Kaizer Chiefs when they take on Siwelele FC in the Carling Knockout Cup. The Soweto giants have been idle since their 2-1 Soweto Derby defeat to Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium last weekend — a match that ended with central defender Inacio Miguel receiving his marching orders.
What some consider flaws, others may view as virtues
With Inacio Miguel now suspended, Rushwin Dortley looks set to step back into the starting lineup — a chance that comes after his long-awaited comeback in the Carling Knockout last-16 meeting with TS Galaxy two weeks ago.
Dortley completed the full 90 minutes in that Galaxy fixture, marking his first appearance for the Soweto giants since the 2024/25 campaign, and he had to settle for a place on the bench during the away trip to Pirates. Now, the defender appears well placed to earn a starting berth for Amakhosi against Siwelele.
At the time of his long-term injury, Dortley's career was firmly on an upward trajectory — he had even earned a call-up to Hugo Broos' Bafana Bafana squad. His return to action now hands him the chance to make up for the time he lost, and he is expected to partner Thabo Moloisane at the heart of the defence.
