Axel Kouame retains positive memories of Al-Ettifaq’s interest. While a move to the Saudi club appeared close to being completed during the last summer transfer window, the deal ultimately fell through. It was a disappointment for the AIK player, who prefers to focus on the recognition he received and use it to continue his development.

Al-Ettifaq made three offers

Having joined AIK in the summer of 2025 from Inter Turku in Finland, Axel Kouame gradually became more important within his team. His performances attracted the attention of Al-Ettifaq.The Saudi club reportedly submitted three offers to AIK. The last, estimated at 40 million Swedish kronor, was reportedly accepted by the Stockholm-based club.

But the move ultimately did not go through. According to reports at the time, the talks stalled over the player’s personal terms. Speaking to Expressen, the 23-year-old Ivorian admitted that he had been affected by the interest:

It was a fantastic opportunity for me. The fact that they wanted me meant a lot. It motivates me to keep working hard in the same way.

Kouame now wants to build on his momentum and continue taking steps forward in his career. “I feel fantastically well. But I’m not finished yet,” he added. The attacking midfielder has recorded five goals and three assists in 19 Allsvenskan appearances this season, including 14 starts. Under contract with AIK until the end of the 2029 season, Kouame therefore remains committed to the Swedish club.
