Paris Saint-Germain are said to be closely monitoring Dayot Upamecano of Bayern Munich. As reported by Foot Mercato, the French defender only signed a contract extension with the German record champions in February, tying him to the club until 2030.

However, the new deal is reportedly understood to include a release clause that, in light of the centre-back's consistently impressive performances, is increasingly viewed as a bargain.

The value of the deal: how is Dayot Upamecano priced?

Word has it that a fee of around €65 million would be due should any club move for the 28-year-old next summer. For PSG, such a sum would hardly pose a problem — though no one has gone on record to confirm that the release clause truly exists.

With an eye on a long-term successor to their defensive leader Marquinhos, the Parisians could well set their sights on Upamecano, who is four years his junior. Marquinhos, now 32, has spent 13 years at the club and has grown into a genuine Parisian legend. His contract in the French capital runs until 2028, meaning PSG will likely be hunting for a top-quality replacement next summer — or, at the very latest, once the 27/28 season draws to a close.

Once again, the Bayern Munich defender turned heads this week in Madrid, where he nullified striker Julián Álvarez entirely during his side's 2-0 Champions League victory away at Atlético. These days he anchors the Bavarians' back line, with Jonathan Tah and Min-jae Kim taking turns alongside him.

Upamecano arrived at Bayern Munich back in 2021 for a fee of €42.5 million. So far this season, he has found the net three times in competitive appearances across all competitions for the club.
