Official: Italy appoints new federation president
On Monday, Giovanni Malagò, the former head of the Italian Olympic Committee, was elected president of the Italian federation with over 68% of the vote.
He succeeds Gabriele Gravina after the Nazionale's failure in the 2026 World Cup playoffs against Bosnia. His first task will be to revive a national team in crisis.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Malagò wants to move swiftly by overhauling the sporting structure. Paolo Maldini is tipped to take a key role in the rebuilding project as technical director, while Antonio Conte is the frontrunner for the head coach position, ahead of Roberto Mancini.
