OFFICIAL: Kaitano Tembo lands new PSL club

Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Venda FC have announced the appointment of former SuperSport United mentor Kaitano Tembo as the club's new head coach.

This comes after the Limpopo-based side parted ways with experienced tactician Clinton Larsen via mutual agreement following a winless start to the 2026/27 campaign.

Venda have succumbed to four defeats and settled for one draw in their opening five matches, which has them sitting at the bottom of the second-tier standings.

Maunavhathu, as the club is affectionately known, have conceded a staggering nine goals, while scoring a disappointing solitary goal dating back to their season opener.

The Vhembe club is now set to usher into a new era under the tutelage of Tembo, who brings a wealth of experience from the South African topflight division.

Notably, he took interim charge of the Zimbabwe national this year in April following the departure of Romanian coach Mario Marinica, under whom he was serving as assistant.

Tembo, however, was demoted to the U20 setup after the arrival of newly appointed Warriors' boss Ramon Catala last month.

Whether he will be in dual charge of the Young Warriors and Venda FC remains to be seen, with his new club in a precarious position in the rigorous second division.

He previously guided the now-defunct SuperSport United to the MTN8 title in the 2019/20 season, and also coached a host of topflight teams in addition.

His tenure as the new Venda FC coach begins with a visit to 12th-placed Midlands Wanderers after the three-week FIFA International break.
