Mamelodi Sundowns Head of Physical Performance Mathias Zangenberg has officially left the club to take up a role at Brondby IF in the Danish Superliga.

The 47-year-old joined the Brazilians in April 2023 under then-head coach Rulani Mokwena, with the club looking to counter the fixture congestion on the player's fitness.

He was tasked with aligning the methodology of physical training of the senior men's team, the ladies team, and the academy team.

Notably, prior to signing for Sundowns, Zangenberg had a 15-year spell working as a conditioning coach at Lyngby BK, FC Nordsjaelland, and AGF in his native Denmark.

Moreover, he participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, serving as the physical coach of the Ghana national team.

The UEFA A License holder helped the Tshwane giants win two Betway Premiership titles, the African Football League (AFL), and the coveted CAF Champions League.

Now, he is set for a new chapter in a familiar territory where he will work alongside Bennet Kastner to condition the players at Brondby IF.

His new employers finished fourth in the Danish Superliga last season, with South African wing-back Gift Links' AGF clinching the league title after 40 years.
