Official: Mohamed Elneny returns to Europe
Mohamed Elneny is returning to European football. A free agent since the end of his contract with Al-Jazira in the United Arab Emirates, the 34-year-old Egypt international has signed with Levadiakos, a club playing in the Greek top flight, until the end of the season.
A new challenge after two years in the United Arab Emirates
After spending two years in the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Elneny is returning to the European league. His contract with Al-Jazira having expired last June, the midfielder was looking for a new club. Levadiakos is now giving him the opportunity to revive his career in the Old Continent and return to competitive action in a new league.
Mohamed Elneny made his mark on the European stage in the colours of FC Basel, whom he joined in 2013. In January 2016, he then joined Arsenal in a transfer estimated at €12.5 million. The Egyptian midfielder spent several seasons with the Gunners, including a loan spell at Besiktas in Turkey. He ultimately left the London club in 2024 to join Al-Jazira.
Valuable experience for Levadiakos
With experience in Switzerland, England, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, Elneny brings a substantial international background to his new team. The midfielder will now look to establish himself in the Greek squad and contribute to Levadiakos’ objectives until the end of the season.
At 34, this signing allows him to continue his career in Europe after spending the past two seasons in the Emirati league.
