Official statements and Istanbul arrival
Late on Tuesday evening, the Turkish Super Lig side issued two rapid official communications confirming their pursuit of the 34 year old.
At 11:32 PM local time, Trabzonspor’s sporting entity submitted a formal notification to the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), stating:
"Negotiations have begun regarding the transfer of professional football player Mohamed Salah to our club"
Just minutes after the market disclosure, the club released a second statement confirming the player's imminent arrival. Trabzonspor announced that Salah is scheduled to land at the General Aviation Terminal of Istanbul's Ataturk Airport at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, 5 August.
The Egyptian international is currently available on a free transfer after departing Liverpool at the end of the 2025 /26 campaign concluding a historic nine season spell at Anfield.
Unconfirmed contract details
While Trabzonspor’s KAP disclosure confirms direct talks, the club has not yet finalized the transfer or published any financial figures.
However, widespread Turkish media reports, including those from Sözcü and Türkiye Today, suggest a lucrative two year agreement is on the table. Unconfirmed reports indicate the proposed contract includes a guaranteed annual salary of €17 million, a €5 million signing bonus and a 20 to 25 percent share of revenue generated from Salah's shirt sales.
Trabzonspor have not officially verified these financial terms.
Trabzonspor’s official KAP notification is a legally binding market disclosure proving that this is no longer a mere transfer rumor. By publicly announcing his arrival time and inviting supporters to the airport, the club's board is demonstrating immense confidence that a final agreement is essentially complete.
This development immediately follows the recent collapse of Salah's negotiations with Besiktas. Trabzonspor have moved swiftly to capitalize on that breakdown, evidently willing to construct a financial package that deterred their Istanbul rivals.
If the deal crosses the finish line securing a player of Salah's global commercial and sporting magnitude would mark a transformative moment for Trabzonspor's project.
