OFFICIAL: Orlando Pirates confirm new signing, announce surprise exits
Betway Premiership champions Orlando Pirates have announced the signing of winger Bheki Mabuza on a permanent deal from fellow topflight side Marumo Gallants as they continue to bolster their squad for the 2026/27 campaign.
The 23-year-old attacker arrives at Mayfair on the back of eye-catching displays in the colours of Bahlabane Ba Ntwa last season, where he chipped in with three goals and a solitary assist in 32 games across all competitions in his sole term at the club.
He is no stranger at Pirates as he was previously part of the Bucs reserve team in the Dstv Diski Challenge (DDC), before turning out for M-Tigers in the ABC Motsepe League and Leruma United, prior to his spell at Gallants.
Notably, the move saw Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko move to Gallants on season-long loan agreements for the remainder of the campaign, with competition for places rife at Pirates.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Marumo Gallants for the permanent transfer of Bheki Mabuza,” read the club statement.
"The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for Mabuza, who was previously part of the Buccaneers setup.
"During his time away from the Club, Mabuza made encouraging progress and impressed. His performances at Gallants convinced the Club that he is ready to return and take the next step in his career.
"Meanwhile, the club can also confirm that Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction, joining Marumo Gallants on season-long loan agreements.
Whether Mabuza will stake his claim in the starting XI in his second stint at Pirates remains to be seen, with the Sea Robbers set to compete on all fronts this season after clinching a treble last term.
