OL: "I knew I would bounce back," Moussa Niakhaté after Lyon
After the victory against Lille (2-1) on Saturday, April 5 in Ligue 1, Moussa Niakhaté expressed his satisfaction with the determination and hard work put in by his team. The central defender of Olympique Lyonnais also spoke about his development within the group since his arrival in July 2024.
Olympique Lyonnais secured a 2-1 win this Saturday against Lille during the 28th day of France's Ligue 1. Starting in the lineup, Moussa Niakhaté was playing his 25th match of the season with OL, marking his 24th start. A growing pride for the former Nottingham Forest defender who has managed to make himself indispensable in the Lyon squad.
After a challenging start at OL, the Senegalese defender gradually regained his performance level. He doesn't hide his joy. He was recently nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foé prize 2025.
"It wasn't an ideal start to the season for me, but I knew I would bounce back. The team also had complications at the start of the season, it's our fault. At Olympique Lyonnais, we must be ready from the start of the season. We conceded a lot of goals, the lines were very wide, many bad things, but hard work pays off. We faced our responsibilities. We worked," declared Moussa Niakhaté to l'Equipe.
