Orlando Pirates receive a major morale boost ahead of the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns!

Just when Orlando Pirates needed it most, relief has arrived. With the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns looming, the Sea Robbers have welcomed two familiar faces back into the fold — midfielder Thalente Mbatha and striker Evidence Makgopa, both of whom had been sidelined nursing their respective injuries, have now rejoined training.

The final will be next October!

The timing couldn't be better. Once the Fifa break concludes, Pirates will lock horns with Sundowns in the Wafa Wafa final on October 10.

The club confirmed the news in an official statement: “After missing the opening stages of the 2026/27 season, Bafana Bafana internationals Evidence Makgopa and Thalente Mbatha have returned to full-team training following their recovery from their respective injuries.”

And there's more to celebrate. "Both players have also featured in friendly matches as they continue working towards regaining full match fitness."
