Patrick 'Tito' Maswanganyi shines in Bahrain

Former Orlando Pirates attacking midfielder Patrick Maswanganyi provided two assists as Al Khalidiya SC beat A'Ali 3-1 in the Nasser Bin Hamad Premier League on Friday.

The 28-year-old playmaker set-up Gleison Moreira in the 68th minute, helping his team level matters, before assisting Walid Sabar, who made it 3-1 in the 84th minute.

It was his full debut for Al Khalidiya SC, having come off the bench in the closing stages of the 7-2 routing of Al-Najma in the club's opening league match last Thursday.

Al Khalidiya, meanwhile, sit at the summit of the 12-team championship as they accumulated six points in their first two matches of the 2026/27 campaign.

Maswanganyi signed for the Bahraini outfit on an undisclosed fee from reigning Betway Premiership champions Pirates, ending a three-year association with the club.

‘Tito’, as the player is affectionately known, made a total of 120 appearances across all competitions in the famous black and white jersey of the Sea Robbers.

He chipped in with 28 goals and 21 assists, winning six trophies, including three MTN8 titles, one Nedbank Cup and as many Carling Knockout Cups, in addition to the league.

Maswanganyi will be eager to maintain momentum when Al Khalidiya visit fourth-placed Al Riffa in their next league outing on Thursday, 10 September.
