FIFA officially cleared 2 legal disputes for Zamalek SC this Monday 1 Jun after the Egyptian champions paid off overdue coaching staff debts.

Trimming the legal backlog

According to an update on FIFA’s official legal tracking portal, the world football governing body has formally closed 2 outstanding financial disputes against Zamalek SC.

The club's legal department successfully settled the claims reducing their massive backlog of active disciplinary cases from 18 down to 16.

Settling coaching staff dues

The two resolved cases directly involved overdue financial settlements owed to Luis Vicente Castro & João Espinosa Miguel. Both tacticians served as assistant coaches under the club's former Portuguese manager José Gomes.

Zamalek's administration confirmed they finalized the bank transfers to cover the outstanding wages and immediately contacted FIFA with official documentation to verify the resolution and lift the associated restrictions.

Heavy financial hurdles remain

While this double clearance offers vital breathing room, the White Knights still face a demanding battle.

There are still 16 very difficult cases remaining particularly those involving hefty fines.

Balancing trophies & boardroom debts

This administrative breakthrough comes during a highly dramatic period on the pitch for the Cairo giants.

Zamalek recently celebrated a phenomenal domestic campaign by capturing the 2025 /26 Egyptian Premier League title. However their continental ambitions ended in absolute heartbreak just weeks ago when they lost the CAF Confederation Cup final to Algerian side USM Alger.
