Polokwane City coach pinpoints Kaizer Chiefs weakness after stalemate

Polokwane City head coach Willy Moloto has highlighted Kaizer Chiefs' weakness after their one-all draw in the Betway Premiership at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium over the weekend.

The Limpopo-based outfit frustrated the Soweto giants as they rallied from behind to level matters, with Giovanni Philander forcing Brandon Petersen into an own goal which canceled out Lebohang Maboe's opener.

Moloto, as a result, was pleased with salvaging a point as they managed to keep pace in the upper half of the table, with the team sitting in eighth place after accumulating seven points in six league outings.

“It's important in this league not to lose maximum points because if we can get two wins then it pushes us to a better position,” said the Rise and Shine boss, who replaced Phuti Mohafe at the beginning of the season.

"And also, getting one point takes us to seven points and it also takes us back into the top eight, of which it's something we're working on.

The former AmaTuks assistant coach went on to reveal that he told his troops to press the Chiefs full-backs in his half-time teamtalk, having noted that they are too slow and crumble under pressure.

“I just went there and encouraged them and showed them what is it we need to do, and reminded them of the patterns we were doing during the week and we came back stronger,” Moloto added.

"We know that their full backs are too slow, and if you put them under pressure they lose concentration.

"So, it's something that I told them, to keep putting pressure on them and keep the ball more in their half and they will open up - and they eventually opened up.

Polokwane City welcome AmaZulu FC in their next Betway Premiership encounter at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, where they will be looking to snap a five-game winless run.
