Polokwane City sign highly-rated Ghana international
Exclusive
Foot Africa understands that Polokwane City have completed the signing of highly-rated goalkeeper Abdulai Iddrisu from Ethopia Premier League outfit Negele Arsi Town FC.
The 29-year-old shot-stopper comes in as a direct replacement for Kenyan goalie Brian Bwire, who was released by Rise and Shine ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
He arrives hot on the heels of being named Goalkeeper of the Season in Ethopia, having kept 17 clean sheets in 37 league outings in the previous season.
Notably, this is not the first time Iddrisu dominated domestically as he registered 18 shutouts for Bechem United in the Ghana Premier League during the 2021/22 term.
His exploits subsequently earned him a big move to Azam FC of Tanzania the following season, before taking his qualities to the Ethiopian topflight division in 2024.
Now, sources have informed this publication that Iddrisu has joined Polokwane City in the lucrative Betway Premiership, where he will be looking to stamp his authority.
With over 100 appearances and 51 clean sheets in his club career, the Ghana international undoubtedly brings experience and stability between the sticks.
Polokwane City, meanwhile, kickstart their 2026/27 campaign with a clash against Richards Bay at uMhlathuze Sports Complex on Sunday, 02 August.
