Manchester United's troubles are only deepening — five Premier League fixtures have yielded a mere five points, matching the club's worst-ever return at this stage of a campaign. The Red Devils also mustered five points from their opening five games back in the 2014/15 season.

A poor start to the season

The current term has been wildly inconsistent for United. They began with a trip to Hull City, where they fell to a surprise 0-2 defeat. That setback was answered immediately, as Manchester United thrashed Ipswich 5-2 to claim their first three points.

Yet nothing followed. Matchday three brought a 2-2 draw with Everton, and then came a 0-1 loss to Manchester City in the home derby. In the fifth round, the team headed to Fulham.

The Londoners took the lead through a bizarre own goal from Lisandro Martinez, but United escaped defeat courtesy of a Matheus Cunha strike in the 89th minute — 1-1.

The record after five rounds reads one win, two draws and two defeats. Manchester United have gathered just five points from a possible 15 and sit 12th in the league table.
