PSG: verdict is in for Ousmane Dembélé!

Forced off early against FC Barcelona, Ousmane Dembélé now knows the nature of his injury and has received an initial estimate of his time on the sidelines.

Paris Saint-Germain's victory over FC Barcelona (4-2) on Tuesday, October 20 left a bitter taste for the capital club. Forced to leave the pitch in the first half, Ousmane Dembélé is suffering from a left thigh injury, as PSG announced in its medical update published on Wednesday. The club said he would undergo treatment over the coming weeks, without officially setting a return date.

According to Le Parisien, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner could be unavailable for around three weeks. In that scenario, the France international would be targeting a return around mid-November, subject to the progress of his recovery.

Dembélé is expected to miss Villarreal and several of PSG's upcoming fixtures

This timeline makes his presence highly unlikely for the trip to Villarreal on November 3, on matchday four of the Champions League. He is also expected to miss the next France squad gathering.

The Ligue 1 match against Olympique Lyonnais, initially scheduled for October 25, is meanwhile subject to uncertainty over its date. PSG's schedule also includes an away trip to Le Havre on October 30 and a home match against Troyes on November 7.

Paris's attacking department hit hard

Dembélé's absence represents another problem for Luis Enrique. The Frenchman had already been directly involved in ten goals this season, with four goals and six assists, according to figures reported by Reuters. His mobility, creativity and runs in behind play a central role in Paris's attacking setup.

The blow is all the more significant because Dembélé had made his European ambitions clear at the start of the season. Above all, PSG must also cope with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's serious injury and Marquinhos's unavailability, with the latter also suffering a thigh injury against Barça. This accumulation of absences will force the coaching staff to adjust its rotation in the coming weeks, as Paris defend their continental title.
