PSL newcomers sign former Mamelodi Sundowns star

Newly promoted Motsepe Foundation Championship outfit Hope FC have announced the signing of former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Selwyn Stevens.

The 18-year-old attacker came through the development ranks at Ikamva, Cape Town Spurs' academy, before joining Downs' reserve team in January 2024.

He has been an ever-present figure in the South African junior national teams from the under-15, under-17, and is now part of the Amajimbos set-up.

Stevens represented South Africa at the under-17 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, with both tournaments staged last year.

Furthermore, the left-footed player underwent trials at French Ligue 2 side AS Saint-Etienne in July 2025 - a testament to his immense talent.

Having been long touted as a huge prospect in the country, it remains to be seen how Stevens will fare in his debut campaign in the professional ranks.
