RB Leipzig enters race for Karim Konaté
Karim Konaté is once again attracting attention across Europe. The Ivorian striker from RB Salzburg is reportedly being monitored by several clubs, including RB Leipzig, who know his profile particularly well thanks to the links between the two clubs in the Red Bull group.
Leipzig enters the race
Karim Konaté could be one of the most sought-after strikers in the next transfer window. At 22, the Ivory Coast international has attracted interest from several German and English clubs. According to reports, RB Leipzig has made inquiries about his situation, while Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt are also monitoring the player.
In the Premier League, Sunderland and Nottingham Forest are also monitoring the situation, as are other English clubs that have reportedly contacted the player's representatives. Salzburg would ideally like to keep Konaté until the summer, but a departure as early as January has not been completely ruled out if an offer matching their demands arrives.
Salzburg value their striker at between €20 million and €25 million
The Austrian club have reportedly set their striker's price at between €20 million and €25 million. The figure is explained in particular by the player's potential and his performances before his serious injury. Konaté joined the Red Bull system in 2022 from ASEC Mimosas, before spending time at Liefering and then establishing himself with Salzburg.
During the 2023–24 season, the Ivorian enjoyed a particularly impressive campaign, scoring 20 league goals and finishing as the top scorer in the Austrian Bundesliga. He was also voted the season's best young player and named in the league's team of the season. With Salzburg, his tally now stands at 36 goals in 69 league matches. Under contract until June 2028, the Ivorian still has significant room for development.
