Real Madrid: a strange Ballon d'Or for Kylian Mbappé

One week before the 70th Ballon d'Or ceremony, Kylian Mbappé received a strange award.

A guest on the “Djadel Show”, Kylian Mbappé was presented with a trophy by comedian Ilyes Djadel in an amusing segment. All smiles, the France captain played along with the symbolic presentation, which quickly drew reactions on social media.

The situation was, after all, not without irony. The programme is notably co-produced by Zebra Valley, the production company founded by Mbappé himself. It was a humorous way to celebrate an individual trophy that is still missing from the French star’s honours list.

A gift that recalls another

The scene recalls another episode from December 2018. For Mbappé’s 20th birthday, Jamel Debbouze gave him a chocolate Ballon d'Or, a few weeks after he had finished fourth in the voting for the award won that year by Luka Modrić.

The 2018 World Cup winner appreciated the gesture and joked about the gift, which he received in place of the actual trophy.
